Order of adjectival properties

In mathematics, how should the adjectives in front of a noun be ordered? Are there conventions? I can think of a few practices:

  1. Use stronger adjectives or more specialised properties first, and more basic or simple properties last. E.g., prefer noetherian open subscheme to open noetherian subscheme. I suspect that mentioning an adjective earlier emphasises it.

  2. Try to reuse phrases that have often appeared before. E.g., affine open subscheme is more common than noetherian subscheme, so noetherian affine open subscheme should be preferred to affine open noetherian subscheme.

However, since affine subscheme is as common as open subscheme, this guideline is not useful for choosing between affine open subscheme and open affine subscheme, both of which I've seen.
